Three athletes from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club completed the European Multi Taekwondo Games in Serbia with two gold medals and one bronze. Kaan Yelaldı and Eda Yelaldı won gold medals in their respective categories, while Zehra Gürbüz finished third and won the bronze medal.

Taekwondo athletes from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club achieved outstanding results at the European Multi Taekwondo Games held in Niš, Serbia. The event brought together approximately 1,900 athletes from 40 countries in the cadet, junior, and senior categories. The athletes from İzmir won two gold medals and one bronze.

İzmir athletes reach the top of the podium
Competing in the men’s 54 kg category, Kaan Yelaldı defeated all his opponents and won the gold medal. Yelaldı defeated Cameron Done from Great Britain in the opening round, Eliot Guardiola from France in the second round, Bernat Nadal Mir from Spain in the third round, and Dmitriy Balakhneev from Russia in the final to become champion. Eda Yelaldı also won the gold medal in the junior women’s 42 kg category. She defeated Lena Milosevic from Serbia in the second round, Sakibe Su Dağ from Türkiye in the quarterfinal, Ilaira Nicoletti from Italy in the semifinal, and Ilektra Tsouprol from Greece in the final to reach the top of the podium.

Bronze medal for Gürbüz
Zehra Gürbüz finished third in the senior women’s 46 kg category and won the bronze medal. After receiving a bye in the opening round, Gürbüz defeated Daria Poluektova from Russia in the second round and Aminat Kamalutdinova, also from Russia, in the quarterfinal. She was defeated by Melina Georgiou from Greece in the semifinal and won the bronze medal. With their results, Kaan Yelaldı and Zehra Gürbüz qualified for the U21 Taekwondo Championships, which will be held in Croatia in December.
