Sema Mete, a national judoka of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, won a bronze medal in the +78 kg category at the European Junior Cup held in North Macedonia and stepped onto the podium for the second consecutive time in the European Cup. Competing in the European Junior Championships in Skopje, North Macedonia, Sema Mete passed the first round without playing a match. After defeating her compatriot Hayrunisa Ardıç in the quarter-finals, she advanced to the semi-finals, where she matched with Peppa Ploehnert from Germany. After losing to her opponent in the golden score round, she competed for the bronze medal. Sema Mete defeated her opponent Leona Niketic from Croatia and finished the tournament in third place and won the bronze medal. Sema Mete had also won a bronze medal in the +78 kg category at the Berlin European Junior Cup held in Germany on June 20-21. Furthermore, the national judoka finished second in the Spor Toto Senior Turkish Judo Championship held in Kocaeli in February.
