İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay hosted Dr. Kathrin MiseraLang, the newly appointed Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to İzmir, at his office. Mayor Tugay stated their desire to strengthen İzmir's ties with German cities, institutions, and universities.
Dr. Kathrin Misera-Lang, the new Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to İzmir, visited İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay. Nesrin Çetiner, Private Secretary to the Consul General, Zeki Yıldırım, Secretary General of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Selin Sayın Kapancı, Head of the Foreign Relations Department were also present at the visit. Consul General drew attention to the presence of approximately 250 German companies operating across a wide range of sectors in İzmir, from automotive to aerospace industries and renewable energy.
Tugay emphasizes deep rooted friendship
Emphasizing the deep rooted and close bonds of friendship between the Turkish and German people, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay shared information regarding İzmir's rich archeological heritage, dynamic economic structure, and the quality of life it offers. Stating that there are 5 technoparks and 17 organized city zones in İzmir, Tugay noted that the city's transportation master plan will be completed by the end of the year. Stating that they have developed earthquake master plans and disaster oriented action plans, Tugay expressed that they are ready for any kind of assistance and cooperation, and they are willing to reinforce ties with German cities, institutions, and universities.
Visit to İzmir from Bremen-İzmir Sister City Association
Consul General Dr. Kathrin Misera-Lang emphasized that İzmir is a rapidly developing, strong hub, particularly in wind energy investments, renewable energy, and technology oriented industrial implementations. Expressing that seeing wind turbines upon arriving in İzmir is wonderful, Dr. Kathrin Misera-Lang stated that representatives of Bremen-İzmir Sister City Association will come to İzmir in September, and expressed that this visit will be highly beneficial in terms of mutual experience sharing.
