The UFI Exhibition Directors Summit, held as part of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) European Conference hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ at Fuar İzmir, began at the Historic Elevator. In addition to providing a platform for knowledge and experience sharing among industry professionals, the summit, which will conclude on June 5, will continue to bring international exhibition industry representatives together with İzmir’s historical and cultural heritage.

As part of the UFI European Conference, organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ between June 3–5, exhibition and event industry executives, as well as sales, marketing, and communications leaders from various countries, gathered at the UFI Exhibition Directors Summit held at the Historic Elevator. Participants chose İzmir’s bicycle-sharing system, BİSİM, to travel to the summit. Setting off from their hotel, industry representatives cycled along the Kordon waterfront, following a route through Konak Pier, the Clock Tower, and Karataş before arriving at the Historic Elevator. Throughout the program, guests had the opportunity to closely experience İzmir’s architectural heritage, urban culture, and bay lifestyle. By observing the city’s historical and social fabric firsthand, participants experienced İzmir from a different perspective.

The İzmir Experience Stood Out
During the summit’s first day at the Historic Elevator, the discussion point was the evolving exhibition industry. In their evaluations of the event, participants highlighted the İzmir experience, noting that the program offered opportunities to learn about innovative approaches, connect with industry peers, and explore the city through an environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

A Return after 52 Years
With the UFI European Conference taking place at Fuar İzmir from June 3–5, 2026, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ, the city will once again become one of the world exhibition industry’s key meeting points after 52 years. Events held as part of the conference, where topics shaping the future of the industry will be discussed, will continue to showcase İzmir’s exhibition expertise, cultural heritage, and urban identity to international industry representatives. As part of the UFI European Conference, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay will also deliver a speech tomorrow morning.
